Order of DNP after placed

Hi All,

I am new to the photo showing universe and having fun with it here on OHMPS.

I am wondering when the show results are posted if the DNP horses are in a random? Sometimes I see mine close to the last ribbon winner on the list and other times in the middle of bottom.

If it's not random then I will start paying more attention 🙂

I think some judges keep them in random order and some do not! I’m in the latter camp.

Like Equiden said, it depends on the judge. When judging, we have the ability to order the entire class from first to literally last, but we usually don't.

For myself personally, I tend to move horses in groups. In a big class, the top 20 or so will be good horses well photographed, the middle is horses where there was some conformational flaw or the photo wasn't great, and the last third or so are horses with significant biomechanical problems and/or really terrible photos. That's for my own reference basically to move the potential placers to the top so I don't miss anyone. But, in a small class where I can see everyone at a glance I wouldn't do that.

For others, they may just go through and pick out their ribbons and leave the rest totally unsorted. So, if you want to know about a specific entry and get any critique the judge may have to offer, it's best to contact them directly.

(The worst thing is when I'm pretty happy that I got a Top Ten and then I realize there were only 9 horses in the class...)
