Although not common, Clydesdales do come in colors other than bay. Some of the other colors include : chestnut, black, roan and sabino/splash. Clydesdales do not carry the SB1 gene, which typically results in a Sabino pattern in other breeds. They do carry W20 which can present as a splash. Clydesdales actually have a Sabino/white gene that isn’t named yet, that causes the lacey roaning you see in some. Unlike the SB1 gene, this unique gene cannot cause a horse to be almost entirely white.
