- Mangalarga Marchador are the national horse of Brazil. They developed in Brazil, but their bloodlines are from Portugal. They are between 14 - 16 hands tall. Marchadors have a triangular shaped head with a flat forehead, a refined muzzle and the tips of their ears turn inward similar to that of a marwari. They have two gaits: the marcha batida and the marcha picada. They are both very smooth, four beat gaits. Mangalarga Marchadors come in a variety of colors: black, bay, chestnut, dun, buckskin, palomino, roan, grullo, grey, and various pinto markings. The pinto coloring originates from the Spanish Jennet. They are very versatile horses often used for: endurance, pleasure riding, stock work, dressage, hunter jumpers and gymkhanas.
